After three years of wishing, considering and wanting......I have finally finished a black shawl. As you know, I sub, and the temperature variance is horrid. This makes layers a necessity. After eight years, I'm about as sick of cardigans and blazers (jackets..give it your own hip term) as one woman can get. Then I discovered the shawl. Ah. A blanket as an acceptable fashion accessory. I could fall in love with this. I think I might have. After a few false starts, I finally have one of my own. Naturally, I was not the fire under the pan to get it done, but the fire was lit, nonetheless...and viola.....shawl. This was a pretty quick crochet using leftover sock yarn and a size D crochet hook. I then cooked the final products with black jacquard dye....and what do you know....I have a shawl. The phone didn't ring this morning, which makes life even better. I HATE subbing the first day of school. That's right up there with the last day (which is better), field trip day and the day before and after any vacation. Blech! I should stay pretty unbusy for about the next month, which gives me time to refind my comfy schedule. I miss the girls, I miss the summer, but it will be nice to have a pattern back into our lives. Today is adjustment day. I've already done a ton of picking up, and I have a ton more to do. I'm sure Katie will have a must have by tomorrow school list...so we'll do that tonight. I'm going to go hop on the exercise bike, get my miles in and putter around some more and find out what real work needs to be tackled first. Tomorrow is my allergy shot. Yep, things are going back to what we call normal.

There is NO NORMAL in the Dusek house LOL or mine for that matter
shawl looks great. I have a few on my list to do at some point. But to begin this fall, I've picked up a few hoodies to wear once I begin my teaching in a few weeks.
The shawl is beautiful! I love shawls, too, once I got over my shyness about wearing them.
Your shawl is beautiful...but, that is NOT the first beautiful black shawl you have made! I have proof of that!
The Shawl is just beautiful:) Hugs Darcy
Nice Shawl! I thought you had a bunch of black socks until I read you dyed it. Nice.
Normal, huh? Good luck there! LOL.
Your shawl is beautiful :)
