The Laudry Soap Experiment

The first step was to grate 1 c of flakes off of the Fels Naptha bar. That was much easier than I thought it would be. I let it melt into 2 cups of boiling water. (yes, as usual, I missed getting a picture of a step. Imagine that)

The resulting solution was poured into a tub with 1 c of washing soda and 1 c of borax. I stirred until everything was almost dissoved.

Next, I added a gallon of boiling water and stirred until everything was dissolved completely. At this step, we elected to pour in about 1/8th of a bottle of lavender oil.

Last step was pouring it into a rinsed out jug.

I just put a load in the washer. I will let you know what I think. At this point, it's still to warm to have gelled. It will....I'm just not there yet.

Good luck. Do keep us posted. I've heard good things about this recipe. I don't think I can use it with an HE washer. :(

Great step-by-step pics!

I know a lady who uses this recipe with an HE.

What type of washer do you have Shelly?

Hugs!
